Was looking at some basic products that I could pick up from my local GNC or From the shop at my local gym (Baileys Gym) and was wondering if there is a huge difference in buying items from there vise buying them from Online stores?
For isntance Whey protein, Fish Oil Tabs and Caesein/Milk products also daily vitamins.

GNCs whey protein isn't bad since it's like $29.99 now with the 30% gold car thing, so it comes out to be almost the same as ordering optimum whey, but optimum is an overall better quality, than again as soon as my whey runs out I'm aiming to have blackstarlabs.com as my supplier of protein and such.

Thank you all so much for all of the links I have been reading all these site's till my eyes bleed lol...
I am planning on starting my diet this monday so I only have 2 days to go. I think I am going to buy small quantities of the things I need this weekend from local health stores that carry alot of the products in those online products. Then order the rest online in bulk to save me a few bucks.
A nother quick question... I ordered HEAT and Seathin this last wed. and I am wondering when I might expect it being delivered. Is there a Tracking area in here for Avantlabs products you buy?

We have no viewable tracking system yet no. Generally, you can expect to receive your package within 3-8 days of purchase (holidays excluded, of course).

i generally order from www.fitrx.com...mainly bc the optimuim whey is cheap (10 pounds for 44-46, depeidng if u want 1X10 or 2x5) and they have flat shipping of 5.95 for all orders so if u order 1 pound or 30 pounds its still 6 bux, its also free shiping if u spend 200 dollars.

No honestly the people that come to GNC should be lied to and taken advantage of for coming to GNC, so I grill em with some bullshit science so I sell them the stuff that I get commision on, but if I see someone that's into lifting seriously n stuff, so I just give them the address to 1fast400.com or blackstarlabs.com, I never see them come in again.

Don't you get sick of hearing "I need to loose weight, do you have a pill?", I get that question about 15 times per day, everyday.
Or "I don't want ot use whey protein, that will give me bulky muscles".
My personal favorite just happened to be yesterday. An older fellow asked me I carried a creatine product with testosterone in it!?
Because I live on the Canadian/US border, I also get alot of Americans asking me for codeine, becaues it's available here over the counter.
If they only knew...

Ditto, I hate the place but I make decent money. GNC customers have to be some of the stupidest ppl alive couple of my all time favorites include:
"Does Cell-Tech have ephedrine in it?"
"Do you have to lift if you take creatine and protein?"
And I especially love all the 14 year old kids who take 1-ad and balloon up from 115-120 and come in to get praise over their results.
Enkai where do you live?

I worked at a GNC in college and my favorite thing that happened to me was when a woman walked in (Fat as hell) eating a snickers bar, with a butterfinger in her front shirt pocket and asked me if I had anything she could take to help her lose weight.

I've also had a few poeple ask me for serotonin? They have no clue about 5-HTP, they just wanted serotonin? All the explanation in the world won't help in most of these situations either.
I've been asked for human growth hormone a few times as well, thanks to all those fuckin' companies that put ads in women's wold magazine and shit like that.
Also been asked for testosterone a few times! "Yeah, the testosterone enenthate is right over there by the protein. Here. I'll give you a few free needles for a sample".
I had a Johava Witness return her Syntrax Nectar because she thought bovine serum albumin was a blood component added to the protein?
There are 1000's of these stories, good times...

oh hell yeah i forgot to mention the ones about controlled substances I had a guy laugh me off one day because i told him growth hormone was a controlled substance and you can't just pick it up at your local gnc. Test is always a big request. B-12 Injections are another one. I could go on forever and ever. Everyday there's a new dumbass that totally fries my ass on the complete ignorance he portrays. I also love the muscletech and universal junkies who think they are hardcore. They walk in with their "crew" and scientifically explain Nitro-tech like makes you huge dude and Cell-Tech makes it work even better like roids or sumpin nah mean? But I gotta go to work maybe i can pick up some more stories.

OK, I think I've learned on here that GNC sucks and that any serious weightlifter should avoid that store like the plague.
One question, how does a place like that not only stay in business, but have a national chain?

Maybe some of us should tell our stories about ignorant GNC employee's that have no clue about what you want or need hehe.
When I went into that GNC where I bought my Mens Multivitamen and Fish Oil Caps (they were actually cheaper than the 3 other health food stores I went to) I asked for some form of MPI-90 or Micellar Casein.
There were two people there and both of them were like Micellar what? So I tried to explain to them what it was and they were ohh you want whey protein thats over here... (sigh)
They did have a pretty good selection of Whey protein though and I did buy mine from there because my diet started that monday so it was either buy it there or wait another week or 2 to get it from a online source.
Out of all of the health food store I went to shopping around I would have to say the most informative one was Health Foods inc they mostly sold well Health Foods but they had a large ammount of suppliments it was kinda like a healthy super market (where I bought the natty Almond Nut butter and some other things to try).
The people there knew exactly what I wanted and even knew what the Micellar Casein was but they were out of stock. The guy was a Vegan (sp?) and was really hyped when I told him my plan and what I wanted to do to change my life he was really kewl I must say. They carried alot of NOW products and that is also where I got my Dextrose from. Needless to say I think I will still wind up going back there to explore different products.

Yes, that is why GNC stays in business. It's a great everlasting circle of stupid employees talking to stupid customers to the point where they both think they are smart and know their supplements. When I try to say something even remotely intelligent people swear you are lying. I was called out by one of them the other day when I brought up PEA (phenylethylamine) she said I was basically pulling it out of my ass to sell product and so I had to prove to her that it really does exsist. They are so naive about what is going on inside of them and they don't really care as long as they don't have to work too hard to get skinny or ripped.
Oh yeah, you want to talk about stupidity call the GNC hotline and ask questions. I love to torment the shit outta them just for a good laugh when the store isn't busy.

On the occassions that I choose to buy through a storefront vs. online, I always go to Vitamin Shoppe. Their prices are very low...they don't resort to the stupid GNC super Tuesday tactic. For some products, their prices are comparable to online purchasing. And in NY, there's no sales tax on supps sold there (I live on the NY/CT border, and in CT I'm pretty sure there's a tax, so that's why it matters to me).

One time I was walking in as an employee was selling this customer on using NO2. They seemed to talk for a bit and head over to the counter so the sucker can cough up his 75 bucks for a bottle of the stuff. Before he made the sale, the customer asked about the possibility of arginine overdosing/poisoning. The employee suddenly looked like a deer caught in headlights and after several seconds of stammering around a bit shot back this reassuring line, "Uh...yeah...I haven't....heard anything." And the lovely sale was completed.
I HATE GNC with a passion. There's this one woman who works there that seems hellbent on selling you everything and anything possible, even if you don't need it or want it. I only go in there if I need some Whey pretty quickly and can't wait the week or so it takes to order online.
Sadly, I went in this past weekend because I needed to find a decent shaker bottle that could hold close to a liter of liquid. Lucky me, now I get to walk around my gym with "GNC PRO PERFORMANCE" plastered across my water bottle. I'd try to scrape it off, but I fear the logo has been engraved by Satan.

i used bulknutrition and bodybuilding.com, ill prolly never go back into supp store again. i got my stuff in 3 days and it was all good and i saved major money so im happy. i just wish i had more money so i can buy everything. my parents dont see stuff like whey or a multi as a necessity but then when i show them research and stuff they dont care. ah the lack of cash...but online kicks ass, at least to my experience.
