Full Version: MIND MUSCLE CONNECTION!!!

I think without Mind Muscle Connection you cant achieve the muscle growth you desire. By using M.M.C. you can feel the muscle being worked and you are not just going through the motions, I personally can achieve the best M.M.C. by using cables and machines and less M.M.C. by using free weights, I think it beacause you need to balance free weights so you loose that M.M.C.. What do you think M.M.C. is and how important is it in bodybuilding training? I also think that some programs like MAX-OT tell you to use 4-6 reps and heavy weight to overload muscles but in doing so you just trying to get the weight up without M.M.C. pretty much you just heaving the weight up and going through the motions..... To me BODYBUILDINGS MOST IMPORTANT TRAINING COMPONENT IS M.M.C.!

I imagine it would be quite difficult for me to train my muscles if they were not connected to my mind. Call it a hunch. Maybe some can get away with it, but I do not believe I would be able to. Seriously dude. Seriously.

Let me elaborate. what i mean: Lets say you are performing a Wide Grip Barbell Row are you able to say which muscle fibers you are working by feel and not by what you believe or conditioned to believe this exercise works. Or do just assume it targets the back and heave the Barbell up to your wait and going through the motions without feeling it?
For example (when I do Wide Grip Cable Rows I can specifically feel my inner trapezius fibers working more so then any other muscle fibers of the back, or when I perform Overhead DB Tricep Extensions I can specifically feel the fibers of the long head doing most of the work, thus from my feel I can conclude what each exercise primarily targets and with this knowledge I can design a workout plan to bring up weak muscles up or sertain fibers of those muscles.

Oh dear, I seem to be having a problem with my browser - the URL purports to be Avant, but clearly is pointing elsewhere. How frustrating.

Ok. Let's give "objective reasoning and rational inquiry" a try.

To answer your question, no I do not, nor does any rational member of this board simply go through the motions. Now, let me ask you something: If you actually read the intro to this board, and understand what it is all about (you know, the whole rational and objective thing), then why did you ask this question? Do you assume we are mindless fools?

I'm sorry, but I just cannot let this foul defilement of the English language go. It is certain, with a C, not an S. Want objective evidence? Click here and tell me what the first sentence is.

Last time I checked, "feel" is subjective. On the other hand, OBJECTIVE reasoning requires OBJECTIVE data. Present some, or make your voice heard elsewhere.

dawza no, no one here is a fool! and I have never sad that. You made an ass out of yourself by assuming. A wise man once sad, "The only silly question is the one you didn't ask."
I have asked a simple question yet I received not a single worthy reply.

As for the grammatical error yes it's incorrect but we are humans and humans make mistakes.

I sad “hunch” not "feel".
Loki took no regard to the question and put his foolish 2 cents.

What i am amazed at is this post has 133 views and 7 replies, and not a single reply that is answered with respect and intelligence.

No. You did not ask a "simple question." I have been on this board several years--as a moderator in one permutation or another for several months; I have seen countless 'simple questions.' What you presented was a ridiculously tendentious that made a mockery of proper diction, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. That is why you did not recieve a single worthy reply.

I was being sarcastic. Chump. Responding in a manner that I "felt" the nature of your post warranted.

QUOTE

Simply regurgitating Plato like some trained primate does not make you any less worthy to attempt to bear the weight of his powerful words. 'Fool' is a readily subjective categorization. Read a little Nietzsche. Or a little Plato. My "foolish 2 cents" says you have read neither, and likely couldn't read your way down the back of a cereal box. Here, would you like a dignified, intelligent answer?

1. You can only partially neurally detect & regulate motor-neuron firing in muscle-groups in response to adaptive repetitive strength exercises. To a certain extent, there is nothing wrong with training by 'feel' (many seasoned lifters do). However, to attempt to do so without first having a legitimate understanding of how certain muscles/muscle-groups fire in reponse to different tension stimulii from different angles/positions is like trying to write songs before you learn to play your instrument.

2. With the above said, simply 'bringing up' certain fibers/muscles (especially regarding hypertrophy and myrofibular size/density--in terms of maximal or certain-rep strength it's a little different) is folly if trying to do it based on "feel." It should be done based on a.) loading frequency & volume and b.) supplement/drug protocol (see Syntenhance).

And please refrain from any further piddly attempts to denegrate myself or any of my fellow peers/poster here at Avant. If you are looking to make yourself a more permanent posting presence around these parts, needlessly alienating board-veterans is not the best way to go about it. Once again--please refer to and actually read the board rules. Then come back and call me a fool if you wish...

Needless to say, I "respectfully disagree" about the utility of glutamine on a mass-phase.

I would like to ask why?
I think with the use of glutamine mass-phase would be enhanced. I would appreciate if you provide studies or objectives to support your statement.

Loki also before I made an account here I would read this board for a long time and I do have the utmost respect for your replies. I didnt mean to show disrespect, but your sarcastic remark provoked it. We are all here to learn and improve.
Loki
Glutamine is a free-form nonessential amino acid. It is also the most abundant FFNEamino in the body-- your body makes plenty of glutamine already as long as protein intake is adequate.

The far more pertinent issue is that--regardless of how you take glutamine--it ends up being poorly absorbed, even if you megadose the ish. The reason is because orally-ingested glutamine enters the small intestine and is absorbed into the mucosal cell, it is then enzymatically metabolized to two different products: alanine (from the alpha nitrogen on glutamine) and the carbon skelaton (from the left-over epsilon nitrogen). This carbon skelaton is then oxidized by the gut for fuel while the ammonia group is either a.) excreted, or b.) is picked up into the urea cycle. The alanine from this process goes to the liver via the PV (portal vein) to become glucose via gluconeogenesis. It is in this way that our body prevents us from overloading ourselves with individual amino acids. The liver and mucosal cells buffer the peripheral tissues. If this buffer wasn't in place it could have dire health consequences. Glutamine will ALWAYS be screened/filtered by the liver before it gets anywhere peripherally, meaning you will ALWAYS get shit-absorption. Furthermore, since there are so many cheaper, more effective supplements, I consider it such a worthless stand-alone supplement for the transient benefits it provides.

If that is not enough, just do a search for "glutamine" and start reading. We have discussed it a jillion times on this boad.

NickFrequency,

1. I never assumed anything. Re-read my post, which you have kindly quoted, and you will see that I simply asked a question.

2. Regarding silly questions- So my questions, which you have not answered- are they silly or not? Because I only asked two, and you attacked one (assuming it was a comment) and disregarded the other. So that I do not appear "silly," let me purge myself of questions: Where is your objective evidence for the claims you make?

3. No, you DID say feel. " . . . are you able to say which muscle fibers you are working by feel . . ."

4. If you want an intelligent discussion, please post some data, use correct grammar, and make your posts well-structured.

5. Thank you for blowing my quote up. Yes, I have read it before, and I find it funny that you see the need to throw it back at me, when YOU are the one who fails to present any evidence to back up your claims, and then proceed to personal provocation rather than attempting to sound somewhat intelligent and mature.

6. Glutamine- If you have been reading this board for some time, you should know better. Are you just trying to avoid being silly?

7. Please do not assume the above question is an insult- it is a question, and you may choose to answer it or not.

Now, if you have nothing to contribute to the board at this time, keep reading until you do. However, understand that we have certain levels of intellectual (and grammatical) standards at mindandmuscle.net that need to be upheld- after all, that IS what separates this board from the majority of others.

That's not true! Max-Ot was designed to work with utmost intensity. Intensity means that you give everything you got: both physically and mentally! Now there's the big advantage of Max-Ot: With only 4 to 6 reps left, you will generate much greater intensity. You have to give everything you got. When i work out, I picture the working muscle in mind. I can really feel the muscle being worked and the blood rushing through it. It's only a question of concentration. Building muscle is not just going through the motions, it's like feeling every motion physically and mentally. And...that's what most people fail to do.

At least I think outside the box and am not afraid to post something of my interest. I question things to learn them rather then just agree with something because someone said it.
