i mean i can usually deal with protein farts but goddaaaaaaaaaaaaamn ..... i smell like absolute horseshit to put it nicely.....someone shed some light on why this happens....i think i read somewhere that bacteria is attracted to the protein in the intestines or something to that extent
.....well i know its far from peachy to anyone in my vicinity but seriously is it harmful in any way...

BTW does the type of protein or just the quantity effect this because i dont think i ate that much today....???????

....no more than usual....just the normal 40-50 grams during and after my workout....

bump on this....bricks are being fired in my direction in an ever increasing rate....

Have ever you tried Ginger Root capsules. They, a godsend.

Take one or two ~500 mg capsules with each meal. This can you get in a store, or from Mike (1Fast).

The protein you're using probably sucks. I had the same problem from one kind that I bought locally. Weider Mega Mass 4000 made me fart like a madman too. I fart a fair amount anyway for some reason, but this stuff made them STINK.

I've used inexpensive WPC before (like from Optimum) with no problem. This other stuff I tried tore me up. My wife wasn't really happy about it either, as you can imagine.

Change powders. Get some good quality stuff from Customizer or a good brand from Mike (1Fast).

just curious..does anyone know for sure what causes this...is it the quantity?

if your going to use a cheap protein source use milk isolate or egg protein do not use cheap WPC.

In my case, it was DEFINITELY the powder. I use large amounts all the time. 100-150g per day (of powder). I ran out of what I was using, so I headed to a local shop and got this other stuff. After the 1st shake it was fart city. You may also try either a digestive enzyme or lactaid tabs (if you have a lactose issue).

I almost completely eliminated whey concentrate intake and it helped greatly.

Thanx guys...did have dies down as of late...but ill definately have some enzyme and ginger in my posession if things happen to get way outa hand again.....

I came across a study last night where one subject produced over 1g of methane via intestinal fermentation of a 30g oral of d-tagatose (optical isomer of d-fructose).

No other subject produced more than like 20mg

Methane has a negligible contribution to the putrid smell of flatulance (though, it does make your fart more flammable).

The culprit is hydrogen sulfide gas, by virtue of the sulfur. So, foods high in sulfur-containing amino acids will contribute accordingly.

Off topic... Goosey, just so you know I did get your PM but I have a formal biochem lab and a differential equations test this week... not to mention my girlfriend is in town so it probably won't get answered til the weekend. Sorry it is taking so long.

Thanx for the notice L-train....i wont be cutting for a little while anyways tongue.gif ....on a side note i did some hardcore reading of your posts concerning the subect of cardio on various boards and fully follow the reasoning behind why to do HIT style cardio and fully follow(and agree more importantly) with the reasoning behind proper pre workout nutrion being carbs in addition to protein....so u can leave that part of the answer out....
....but if you would be so kind to include some numbers for protein carbs timing, duration etc etc ....i just like to have everything in order

BTW layne....I was reading one of your precontest articles over at BB.com and it said you swtitched to 45 min low intestity cardio... just curious...im guessing its old(if so sorry) info and you have since rethought and switched....and if that being the case hows the results from HIT versus low intesity?

Since Layne's girl is in town I'll answer this one for him since we discussed different forms of cardiovascular activity quite regularly over the summer. (my sprint workouts vs his walking) At the time neither of us we're educated on the results of HIIT training while cutting. He was so preoccupied with making sure he retained his muscle and burned fat that he didn't want the extra intensity during cardio to burn extra muscle tissue.

If we had only known what we know now we would've scheduled cardio differently (NOT IN THE MORNING) and done HIIT.

yup, it's old. I lost a good deal of size doing cardio that way too. dry.gif
