Full Version: Syntrax's 5.0 Matrix Chocolate and Orange Cream protien

These protiens are probably the only redeeming thing that Syntrax has WRT their entire product line.

It's a fast & slow protien blend with taste and mixibility on par with the bext of the best i.e.Muscle Milk Chocolate,Orange Cream but the 5.0 has next to no fat nor carbs in at all.

A blender is a requisite IMO for any shake,in order to achieve a thoroughly mixed consistency and with low carb,FF milk a blender fluffs these fuckers up enough to go down lke milkshakes.I've been adding two tablespoons of Now/s Inulin w/FOS to each shake and blending it all long enough to ensure virtually no inulin clumps,if there are any, they're at the bottom of the shake and fairly small.Inulin really helps with satiety,as does the milk.

Both fast/slow protiens and as I'm doing a bastardized PMSF right now(bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch or another high pro/fiber cereal) in Calorie Countdown FF milk before bed with 1 scoop 5.0 mixed into 16 oz. calorie countdown 3 times per day,the inulin really makes the all liquid diet (motherfucker that it sounds like) actually quite tolerable. Now's Inulin is sweet as it is and they've added 2 grams of fructose to each tablespoon so the fiber-esque taste is completely gone rendering the addition to serve its intended task of improving the thinkness/satiety of the shakes.

I reckon five pounds of these here sumbitches to be Gawd damn thievery at $26.99.Taste so damn good y'all are gonna wanna stick yer cock right in 'em.......

The problem with this and other blends is they hide the actual protein amounts behind proprietary formulas. You would likely need 2- 3 servings to get a decent amount of casein or other slow digesting proteins. Flavoring and mixibility are amongst the top in it's category. Nectar is similarly amongst the top in terms of taste and mixibility. As for the company itself and their practices I won't bother touching that subject.

Colin, this is no protein blend by any means. Unless of course you wanted something that is primarily WPC with a few grams of slower proteins to make it look savvy.

But hey, whatever floats your boat man... wub.gif

Thanks for the posts, fellas and yes I know Syntrax are sketchy fucks.Hence the first sentence in my post above.

I do mix it into FF/low carb milk so I'm getting at least 12 grams of casien from my base.Ialso add around 14 grams of inulin/FOS to the shakes fso the fiber helps slow digestion down.I only use 1 scoop of 5.0 per shake and don't need the extra kcals from 2-3 scoops as I'm on a modified PMSF at the moment. But this is somewhat besides the point. If the 5.0 is 10 grams whey and 6 of the other two, that wouldn't be too bad at all, even 12 grams whey wouldn't be too bad considering all the fiber I add to the shakes.

Do either of you know of any independent product testing done on 5.0?

I think Matrix 5.0 is great too. I was a hardcore Dymatize slut for a long time but then I found Matrix. It tastes better, mixes easily, and the satiety is longer lasting. It just looks (visually) like a higher quality blend too. Not all crappy looking like Dyma or ON. Not to mention that the Orange cream is damn close to being dessert.
Colin
Not much satiety IME,unless blended with milk and some fiber source.

Thanks for the link Jordan and considering it apparently has 17 grams whey per serving, your emoticon is well justified.

However, with a base of 20 oz. of low carb skim milk (45 kcals 8 g pro per 8 oz.) ,along with add'l inulin and psyllium husk *thoroughly* swooshed up in a blender, the taste is desert-esque.More important, the add'l fiber(about 15 grams and by the time I get done with the blender, there are no chunks and no nasty fiber residue clumps to bite into) should slow the whey down signifigantly and along with the casien from the base it's a decent MRP.Decent in a utilizible, longer lasting protien source.
TheUnlikelyToad
Aye, if you are going to use it like a whey then fine. Just don't think you are getting any extra mileage out of it. You'd also be able to extend tha life of it cutting with some Casein Pro or Ultra Peptide... at least that's what I'd do. wink.gif

I agree, though I've opted for a lot of fiber along with a 20% whey/80& casien source with 8 grams protien per 45 kcals i.e. Fat Free Calorie Countdown milk.

So with this approach (around 24oz of the milk)I'm getting more or perhaps just as much casien as I would with using a casien based powder.

And of course, the 15 +/- grams of fiber I add to each shake surely extends the whey past the 45 minute mark, bridging the gap between the fast and slower protiens.

It does suck that there is not a SINGLE blended protien with both low carbs and low fat.

Ya gotta give J-Rod the business over this without relent,I'm sure that MAN (a credible company) would be able to produce a cost effective blended protien which actually tastes good.I'm sure it'd sell nicely, knowing MAN's rep for un-shady products and the demand for a decent MRP to use for very low kcal dieting.
