I've posted in the past about asthma conditions that seem to have gotten worse since the summer. Actually they have gotten quite a bit better the last few months. I don't get the typical attack, rather it seems to be a very subtle situation that seems to hang around but can get a little worse every so often. I don't take any meds except for an occasional squirt or two of nasacort. The pulmonary specialist had me take blood tests, and while I'm not allergic to anything in particular, I seem to be a "highly allergic type person". He said my IgE levels were over 300. He started to tell me about "mast cells", "cytokines", and "inflamation responses". I know these are all things that have been discussed here on various threads, so I was hoping to get some information from the members here.
The pulmonary specialist is a very well respected doc in this area, and he says I'm doing great. He only schedules me for check-ups every 3 months. My problem, is I maybe doing great in his opinion, but compared to how I used to be, I'm doing really shitty. My lung capacity used to be tremendous, and I want to get back to that, not great compared to some sickly old person who smoked and never worked out before. I think our standards here when it comes to health/performance, is vastly different compared to the main stream medical world. O.K. I'll get off my soap box
