From another topic I quote you:

The way I do it is I eat in 500 kcal/day caloric surplus for 4-8 weeks (however long it takes me to hit my goal weight) and then I diet for 2 weeks in a 500 kcal deficit.

So can you just clarify what may be a little oversight on my behalf. I am struggling to understand what appears to be such a simple thing to follow.

If for example your maintenance is 3000kcals this would mean that during your bulking phase of 4-8 weeks you would actually be consuming 3500kcals right??

However when you then go into calorific deficit of 500kcals is this back to your maintenance figure of 3000kcals or do you mean 500kcals below maintenance, ie 2500??

If the latter, surely a jump from 3500 to 2500 would almost certainly lead to muscle loss and may even put you into starvation mode? so that when you jump back up to 3500 you will more likely put on fat??

Look forward to your reply

500 above maintanance during bulking

500 below maintenance during cutting

so if maintenance is 3000; then you do 3500 & 2500 respectively

one final thing, do you go straight into the cut or would you have a day or 2 at maintenance.

cheers
