i am starting budeprion SR tomorrow for depression. what does this feel like? i noticed that it's chemical structure is very similar to amphetamine. so would it have any of the negative effects of amphetamine, such as psycosis, insomnia or erectile dysfunction?

simpllyhuge
i just started taking the xl form at 300mg, i was taking if for a few weeks before this at a lower dose but with effexor, i dropped the effexor.

Im hoping it starts to make me very motivated and gives me a high sex drive but right now its making me tired and want to sit around, but im only 3 or 4 days in

ok i don't really FEEL anything, maybe a little mood elevation, but i will give it some more time. also would caffeine interact with it at all?

I was on Wellbutrin XL for a long time, and never had any issues with caffiene. Also, give it a few days to kick in, I noticed it about a week.

FWIW, a lot of chemicals have structures similar to amphetamine, but very few of them actually replicate the amphetafeeling.

I know a few individuals who are pleased with long term buproprion treatment.

It gave me dry mouth, very bothersome insomnia, and constipation. When I wasn't irritated by the side effects, I was in an upbeat, energetic mood and was very motivated to get things done. After awhile though, the lack of sleep and gut discomfort forced an end to treatment.

Since you specifically asked about insomnia, you should be aware that it is one of the most common side-effects. Noradrenaline is the "alertness/vigilance" neurotransmitter, so it should come as no surprise.

i know what you are saying man. it does not feel like amphetamine at all. (which is a good thing imo) i am in a very good mood but i wouldn't say i am stimulated at all, granted though that i am also perscribed clonazepam.(generic klonopin) i have to say that this feels great! no shrinkage like i would get with amphetamine either! wink.gif

Bupropion decreases dopamine reuptake like amphetamine, but it also decreases the release of dopamine quite unlike amphetamine. It is a pretty good antidepressant that won’t cause psychosis, could very well cause insomnia, and is unlikely to cause erectile dysfunction (it can even increase libido, more so in woman).

sorry to bump this thread again, but would either clonazepam(0.5mg 3x daily) or the budeprion, have a negative effect on testosterone levels? my libido,so far, is doing fine. but i understand that alot of mood stabilizers and anti-depressants lower testosterone levels. would this combo do the same?

In fact, Bepropion has a high rate of activating side effects (agitation, anxiety, insomnia). This drug usually doesn’t cause sexual side effects, and sometimes is used as antidote for SSRI-induced sexual dysfunction. Also, bupropion has a proven weight loss potential.

As it turns out, I only had those side effects with GlaxoKline Wellbutrin XL. The cheap generic budeprion SR from Teva Pharmaceuticals eliminated all of the negative side effects for me. I'm guessing the XL's super-duper extra-extended sustained release formula doesn't agree with me.

I had some sleep issues with the 300mg XL version but going to 200mg SR taken in the morning resolved this for the most part.

You were depressed or used it for other purpose?

I use Bupropion from time to time when I know i'll have busy day, it keeps my energy levels up without stimulation and keeps me in a good mood.

Does it really kick in that quickly? As Jeff said, I've always heard that it takes about a week.

Bupropion hydrochloride immediate release is the way to go, IMO.

I used it to quit tobacco use, for which it worked really well. When I stop using the bupropion my nicotine cravings come back and I feel so damned good on it that I've just kept taking it...

Either it's placebo or it really does smile.gif
No, it really does work, i always take it in the morning and usually i'm not sleepy at night even when i'm tired. It reminds me of Modafinil but without drugged like feeling (i feel bad on modafinil, like i'm on some bad drugs).

I think you're right if we want to disturb sleep as little as possible. The half-life of metabolites is ridiculous.

is adderal a bad mix with budeprion?

I like adderal for school but I wanna try budeprion again
