i still have some issues to "snatch" deep below the bar when doing a clean, i usually pull a lot higher then the amount i squat down, knees are just slightly bent which i guess pretends me from improving

how deep down should you snatch anyway - untill tight are parallel to floor - e.g. squat position?

the funny thing is, when i do hang cleans i have no problems go go fairly deep down, these seem to work much better...

where might the problem be?

a good way to practice getting your ass down is doing a clean and squat. When you catch it immediately do a front squat in an explosive manner

First, are you trying to clean, or snatch? You've mentioned both, but they're two different movements.

The best thing I ever did for learning how to catch a clean at the rock bottom position were dead hang cleans. Go up into the fully extended position (on toes, shoulders shrugged up, ass forward) and hold that position for a second or so. Then from that position drop down as quickly as you can and catch the bar across your delts in a full front squat position.

The movement Kimbo suggested was really good...those coupled with snatches/cleans off of a box at mid-thigh really helped me to stop pussyfooting under the bar.

Try just upping the weight though...by your description you're power cleaning everything. Even try just squatting after you catch the bar, regardless of whether or not you have to complete the lift.

cleans, with snatch i simply mean the same as you with cath...

thx a lot! i'll try both recommendations

Well, just be careful how you use the term, as the snatch is a lift unto itself. It's also a colloquial term for part of the female anatomy, which is why female Oly lifters are the only women who don't mind you telling them that they have a nice snatch.

if I could tell a woman whom I've never met before that she had I nice snatch I'd be SOOO happy..
