I've read five or six books on the happiness theme now -- the best of them all, by far, is The Happiness Hypothesis. I highly recommend it.

Are you still on the pursuit of happiness? Is it something you are doing to enrich yourself or do you feel all those books (can) provided a solution to your situation?

Jones' and Pennick's A History Of Pagan Europe is a good resource for bitch-smacking pagans who like to believe in a idealized pre-xian world.

I just listened to the first chapter; its awful. alots of stupid hippie pseudo science remarks, gross overgeneralizations and plain dumb shit and very little in the way of useful data.

I heard a great interview with a guy named Michael Dowd who wrote a book called Thank God for Evolution. Sounds reallly cool.

I just finished this one and it is excellent. Hippie crap the way hippie crap is ought to be:)

I recommend the book on stress by Sapolsky. The guy is amazing, his research is innovative, and his lectures are engaging. It is partially his influence that swayed me from being a lawyer (high stress) to being a philosopher (lower stress).

Curious, as a philosopher what type of job do you/most have?

Well PhD students have many paths, my path is to become a professor of my subject of study. Others go on to do a variety of things, but my comment above was really about being a so called "professional philosopher" aka philosophy professor.

IMO a professional philosopher these days can also describer coaches.
