Ok...I need everyone's input here. I am doing my budget for the next 3 months, and just received final cost for NOxidant.
THis is the formula, for those that missed it:
Supplement Facts:
Serving Size: 3 Capsules
Servings Per Container: 30
Amount Per Serving % DV*
Gamma-Tocopherol 500 mg 50%
Selenium (.2%)
(yielding 200 mcg Selenium) 100 mg 0%
Alpha Lipoic Acid 100 mg 0%
Grape Seed Extract 200 mg 0%
Green Tea Extract (50%) 300 mg †
Quercetin 200 mg †
Apple Polyphenols (60%) 300 mg †
Zinc Aspartate (20%)
(standardized to 10mg zinc) 50 mg †
Copper Gluconate (20%)
(yielding 100mcg copper) 500 mcg †
Manganese Chelate - (20%)
(yielding .2mg Manganese) 1 mg †
Vitamin C 250 mg †
It is designed to quench free radicals (Reactive Nitrogen Species, mostly) and contains one of the most potent anti-oxidants known to man (Apple Polyphenols). Feedback on the product was stellar, but at the time it was too expensive to continue running.
This is a formula that I designed for Scivation a few years ago that they discontinued. What I need to know is:
Would you purchase this product at a $15.95 price tag?

That seems a large amount of unmixed Tocopherol's? Although everything I read about Gamma-Tocopherol is good.
I am worried about ALA polymerization, but if you are confident I am also.
The price seems very fair.

$15.95 seems like a very good price for an anti-oxidant complex...
that's about what I pay for my vitamin store-brand "super antioxidant", which is more of a multi-vitamin/antioxidant, and less that what I paid for my previous favorite (now discontinued) specialized anti-ox formula (DS Vigor)

Leaning towards a no.
The Zinc, Copper, Selenium and Manganese I can get from my multivitamin + creatine products + Zma (or similars). Sure they may not be in the same form, but still....
The ALA doesn't convince me in the mix, and what about the timing. Is it 1 serving at once or spread during the day?
Vit C? Nothing spectacularly attractive there.
Gamma-Tocopherol? D or DL form?
How about just packing in a bunch of stuff with super ORACs? And nothing else basically.

Zinc, Manganese, and copper are included as cofactors in the production of Superoxide Dismutase. The Gamma-Tocopherol is the natural form, and is particularly effective at dealing with Reactive Nitrogen Species.
The ingredient profile is put together to specifically combat RNS damage, but also Superoxide. We are looking deeper into this, as evidence is starting to point at the importance of a limited duration second messenger signal triggered by H2O2, in particular. Probably going to recommend taking the full serving before bed, rather than immediately after workout.
And just simply packing a bunch of High ORAC compounds, if I wanted to make a 1 dimensional product I would have. It holds no interest for me.

Don't get me wrong, I would buy it at that price if it only contained apple and grape seed at that price. I like it, I'm just asking questions.

Friendly thoughts.
What form of Vitamin C?
What type of selenium?
Green tea 50% for? EGCG?
D Sade
Jan 25 2008, 10:13 AM
Vitamin C = ascorbic acid
Selenium = selenium yeast containing 2% selenium
GTE - correct, 98% Polyphenols, 70% Catechins, 50% EGCG.

Nutrition. 2007 May;23(5):419-23.
Effects of Applephenon and ascorbic acid on physical fatigue.
Ataka S, Tanaka M, Nozaki S, Mizuma H, Mizuno K, Tahara T, Sugino T, Shirai T, Kajimoto Y, Kuratsune H, Kajimoto O, Watanabe Y. Department of Physiology, Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka, Japan.
OBJECTIVE: We examined the effects of Applephenon and ascorbic acid administration on physical fatigue. METHODS: In a double-blinded, placebo-controlled, three-way crossover design, 18 healthy volunteers were randomized to oral Applephenon (1200 mg/d), ascorbic acid (1000 mg/d), or placebo for 8 d. The fatigue-inducing physical task consisted of workload trials on a bicycle ergometer at fixed workloads for 2 h on two occasions. During the test, subjects performed non-workload trials with maximum velocity for 10 s at 30 min (30-min trial) after the start of the test and 30 min before the end of the test (210-min trial). RESULTS: The change in maximum velocity between the 30- and 210-min trials was higher in the group given Applephenon than in the group given placebo; ascorbic acid had no effect.
CONCLUSION: These results suggest that Applephenon attenuates physical fatigue, whereas ascorbic acid does not.

I don't want to play my hand too soon, but Apple Polyphenols are probably one of the most exciting ingredients around.
We have this planned for 3-4 products already, including the DCP amplifier.
A quick Pubmed search will make QUITE a bit of sense to some of you.

No silly DSade, Hoff is breast feeding. See it is a well known fact (in Germany of course) that Hoff's breast milk contains amazing dosages of GH, SARMS, and other various misc. anabolics/androgens. That is the source of his manly man-ness. After the puppy got done breastfeeding it turned into this:

Decent product, but we want something with an absurd ORAC of 23,725,496 that means fuck all. Should be fairly effective at combating ROS though I think better alternatives exist though they would push the price point quite a bit higher. Do you plan on releasing similar products to combat AGE or upregulate SIRTUIN-1?

Not until we can do it right. My research time has taken a huge hit lately, with supplier problems...and without revenue then further products will never happen.
Gotta move 2 steps forward, then wait until resources accrue to move ahead again.

D Sade,
Good product, though the only thing I'm not already getting is the apple polyphenols. Any chance I could buy some off you? I know caps is too much to hope for, so I'd gladly take bulk.
Thanks.
