Just thought I'd throw a big thumbs up in the wind for ScottL, I've been using his method of hourly dosing Vit C when I feel a sickness coming on, and its been working great. I have that oh so wonderful skinny fat phenotype, which leaves me sick pretty much monthly. Most recently I felt the faintest whisper of sickness in the back of my throat for 2 days in a row, but I brushed it off as me picking up cigs again. Third day I had a strange cough, which within 6 hours turned into a full blown sickness. It included sensitive skin, fever, headache, mental fog, and extreme fatigue. About 4 hours into that third day as the sickness was ramping up, I began hourly 1g dosing of Vit C. I did that for the following 6 hours, then passed out for 15 hours, waking occasionally to pound water and more Vit C. Today, the 4th day, I feel almost 100 percent, and Im keeping up with my dosing. I'm using the cheap ass CVS brand Vit C, and its working wonders. So if you are pretty good at catching your illnesses early on, I can't tell you how useful this approach is. Glad you found it helpful. You might try next time start taking the vitamin c here, then you can avoid getting sick. Dose varies wildly according to how sick you are and 500 mg/hour may be plenty or you may need >1g/hour if VERY sick.

Yeah if I wasnt as strapped for cash as I am, I would have gotten some those first two days. I noticed that day 4, I couldnt take even 500mg/hour without some GI distress. Now at Day 5, flu-esq qualities are preseting themselves again, so I'm back on dat juice. Shit I hate flu season

I used this approach too with 500mg Ester-C at first onset of slight soreness & dryness in back of throat. It never progressed beyond that point, but I was still extremely wiped out for the next 2 days. Aside from the lethargy of my body fighting off the illness, the symptoms never escalated beyond that little sore throat. Wonderful.

With all this talk about how great Vit C is. And I take about 2 grams everyday. Ive heard it is bad to take around workout times. Whats up with that?

IIRC it blunts the necessary spike in hypertrophy-inducing signalers that are linked to oxidative stress.
