Full Version: Transdermal Fenugreek?

I have bought a couple of pounds of fenugreek seed powder. For shits and giggles I have experimented with trying to extracting the sterols out of the powder using plain old 91% isopropanol. It was ridiculously easy, the powder separated out nicely with the fiber resting at the bottom, an odd waxy-looking layer over that and a yellow, maple-syrup smelling fluid rising to the top of the alcohol. I have no idea what I am doing or what I have created, if anything. I got the idea after reading about Gencor's Testofen extract. I have no intention of using this until I get a better idea of what I may have on my hands here. Help me out.

Well Primordial Performance's Fenugreek extract is maple syrup flavored so Im willing to bet thats the active extract right there if you can seperate it. Let us know how your research goes!!

This stuff is easy and cheap to make. HerbalCom sells fenugreek seed powder for $2.50 per pound. 91% isopropyl alcohol is $2 almost anywhere.
I just used an old Mason jar, filled it a quarter of the way full with the alcohol, dumped in several grams of fenugreek powder and shook it up. It immediately settled out. I repeatedly shook the jar over the course of the day. I let it sit for another 24 and then transfered the supernatant to an old spray bottle that I used for prohormone transdermals. I may add some Lectric Shave, which has a penetration enhancer called isopropyl mystrate. I used to use it in my old-school home-made 4AD sprays.

I would be interested to see if this works.

Most of the fenugreek experiments (that I can recall) were conducted upon castrated animals...

Alright, I will be spraying this concoction on myself starting this weekend. I can't imagine this stuff being any more harmful than the capsules that I have taken for years. I'll chime in on what happens. I'm sure of one thing, I'll smell maple-riffic.

Damn, I smell like I worked a double at Waffle House. This crap has a nutty maple scent. Within a hour I noticed a big boost in libido, much stronger effect than the capsules imparted. I'll check back in soon.

I have no idea is this is a coincidence or not but I am feeling quite cold despite my house being at least 70 degrees F. My hands and feet are ice blocks. Have no idea is this is related or not.

Damn. I have found that Fenugreek may inhibit T4 to T3 conversion (1).
This experiment may be over.

anecdotal evidence in humans would suggest otherwise, don't you think? Well I'm actually thinking back to products with testofen, if you don't feel safe, don't continue.

edit: I see testofen is pretty different.

I would see Testofen as different too. I am playing around with a hydro-alchoholic solution of all of the sterols, saponins, etc. that I made in my bathroom while Testofen is a specific extract professionally made to certain specifications.
I still find fenugreek very interesting as a testosterone mimetic/booster, this smelly experiment was just for shits and giggles really. I do plan on trying the Testofen extract.

Did you notice any increase in hair growth on the application site?

Nope. I'll still keep it around to play with but for chronic use I wouldn't recommend it.
