Diets....there are many types;

Carb cycling

Isocaloric-sub maintenance

Ketogenic/CKD/TKD

IF

PSMF

The list goes on.

Here is an idea I have.

Please rip me if need be. HA mellow.gif

Day 1-Hard training like chest/back or legs

Bodyweight in grams of carbs

1.5 x bodyweight in protein

35 grams fat

Day 2-Hard training again

Ketogenic- approx 10 x bodyweight for KCAL

Less then 15 grams carbs

80/20 Fat/protein

Day 3-Light training(delts/arms)

Ketogenic again, same as day 2

Day 4-Hard training

1.5 x bodyweight in carbs

1.5 bodyweight in protein

35 grams fat

Day 5-light training

Ketogenic-repeat day 2/3

Day 6 and 7-rest/light cardio

PSMF

Repeat

Any thoughts or input?

May as well just do UD2.0. That will save you all that mix and matching.

Sounds sort of like TP's carb cycling diet... kinda sorta... What's your reasoning behind the different days?

You've had great success with UD2 in the past why change now. I've never tried UD2 but from what feedback I've seen on those who actually follow it, it would be hard to beat as far as recomp goes. Unless you're just looking for something a little easier to follow, simpler, I'd just stick with whats worked in the past.

I immediately thought of this when I read this post.

Remember keto isn't instantaneous just because you don't eat carbs. So it wont have the same effect as if you could magically switch it on, but cycling carbs is a very good idea.

I just wanted to just add variety while in a deficit.....but train like a bodybuilder.....

I thought of UD2 but I wanted more "traditional" type training.

Also...I thought of the ketosis thing...basically I wanted to cycle nutrients....getting the benfits of low insulin and high fat without cutting kcal too low on training days...I find even with no/low carbs if kcal is a little higher then depletion style kcal I can train better/longer. I was not too worried about ketosis, more worried about keeping insulin sensitivity high and keeping glycogen low but not gone.....perhaps a more standard keto diet be more effective...just thought id throw it out there....

Could even make some of the days IF haha.

Well, just remember that the training setup for UD2.0 is to take full advantage of the diet, but you don't necessarily have to stick to the routine. You can still do a traditional BB split - I would just try to group the muscles that need to improve the most around the weekend (or whenever your carbup is) to take advantage of the carbs.
