God, I jsut wasted an hour of my life listening to the SHR. maybe I just landed on a really bad week; I never listened , but this week was a very interesting subject: a book on epigenetics and positive thinking or as we call it "Hippie crap". Since I'm all in the hippie crap and Phenotype enhancement, I tuned in.
the first half was with Twinlab's "chief scientist" about a product called "Endurance Fuel"
This is a pre workout supplement that contains Caseine so you can fart on your gym members while its slowly in-digesting and keep drowsing through its opiate effects. it also contains fat soluble antioxidants, although it has no fat in it and those vitamins were shown to hurt endurance. super. The show's host, Tricpetor(carl) was just licking the product's and company's balls in the worst way, asking no intersting questions but just pimping this stuff up, he's obviously either paid for this or thinks its in his interest, the least he can do is say its an infomercial, the interview and product where both absolutely horrible.
and in the podacst (50+ minutes) they have also have over 12!!! minutes of commercials.
moving on to the part that I was interested at, it was a bunch of hippie crap of the worst kinds. I'm all for CBT, attachment, meditation etc, but none of this where mentioned specifically, just alot of general hippie brotilligence, including explaining how the stress system deviates the energy from our muscle to the production of cortisol, how stress is essentially high levels of cortisol, and description of either obvious science or hippie placebo crap as proof of "energy psychology". how did that relate to epigenetics I am not sure of, but they should file a complaint for rape. again the host kept asking the most trivial questions that did not confront the author nor expand anything beyond common knowledge.
podcast is such a great platform, but this is example of the worst kind. again, maybe I just landed on a really bad week.
this podcast is a cause for class action. arrggh.
