Its wierd, whenever I drink my heart reate elevates to over 100BPM.......last night I went out and had some drinks ....not an excessive amount but I definetely had a buzz....and my bpm was 115 and because of that I started freakin out a little bit and gettin mini panic attacks...and the second I left the party I could feel my heart beating really hard in my chest........Can anyone explain this or give me a way to counter act it(beta blockers Kinda work but they make me tired and slothy)

Have you been using beta blockers and now you are more susceptible to stress?

I don't know if the alcohol is the cause but something is stressing you out. Your response to the stress is the probable culprit.

ScottL's articles on meditation comes to mind.

I occasionally get the same thing, although not so much in anxiety, more just heart pounding after a night of drinking. usually after a few hours of stopping. I normally take some sort of stim when drinking, so I always attributed it to that, which would be a little odd since I don't get heart pounding during my nomal stims pre workout. But, after several times without stims drinking, still had the heart pounding.

no idea.

Dehydration.

This is fucked. I got shitfaced the other night, really out of hand, passed out on the couch and woke up about 5-6 hours later to piss. I made it to the toilet and my heart was pounding and i was about to puke. I had to crawl into bed like i had just run the boston marathon, passed out agian and was fine.

this has happenend a few times, i was thinking, its possible poisoning or just to much acetaldehyde and oxygen radicals creating to many adducts. Then you get an acute phase reponse due to fucked up immune signalling and it mimicks flu/infection like symptoms until your body can clear or reduce the products. Increased TNF-a is another possible reason, for feeling so ill.

I dont even like drinking that much to be honest......It ussually doesnt give me that good of a buzz or make me more social....

But its very hard to be social in college if you dont have a few drinks now and then......you really do come off as a stiff

I do take caffiene regularly but I highly doubt thats the cause....since i use it everyday and it doesnt make my heart pound

It's not unusual. Humans, rabbits, mice and probably lots of other mammals get tachycardia with ethanol.
Caffeine/adenosine show similar effects and you may be experiencing a synergistic interaction of the caffeine still in you and the alcohol (this is pure speculation worth every dime that you paid me for it. Cash only, please).

If you have Asian genes (I don't know you) then you will process ethanol differently than those spawned from centuries of Saxon sots and their adaptation to self-inflicted crapulence.

I am not a doctor. Given that fact, my suggestion is psychological -- reframe your thoughts about the sensation from anxiety to enjoying the proud beating of your healthy heart.

On the other hand, if you're worried about arrhythmia then get an EKG through your doctor and set your mind at ease or know if your concern is valid.

It's probably not wise for you to mix "energy drinks" with booze. You know, Red Bull, Babbling Idiot, Concussion Force, Norwegian Beaver Chaser. Okay, so I forget the actual names of the products, but when I read the labels there is a lot of hidden caffeine, often in guarana. Not that alcohol/caffeine tachycardia is any more dangerous than a quick sprint up a flight stairs (don't know), but you're concerned enough to post about it here.

Maybe a real doctor here has better advice.

Google :
ethanol tachycardia
supraventricular tachycardia

Pubmed search terms:
ethanol tachycardia NOT ablation (the NOT reduces irrelevant hits somewhat)

The fast HR isnt as much of a concern I guess then as is the hypertention....which then causes me to have some palpations

I can literally feel my head throb with my heart beat and hear it slammin around in my chest....

Any supplements that could counteract this??

I get the same thing. You might be borderline hypertensive. I believe its due to gaba sensitivity but that's just a blind guess. Water and taurine might help.
