As an Canadian atheist, I don't get all warm and fuzzy during the singing of this track. I respect most of the Americans I've contacted, don't get me wrong (I live 45mins from the border, work with Yanks and talk to them all day on message boards), but this is a cultural thing I am curious about.
What does the educated American populous think of the song? Does it elicit positive or negative emotions? Anything else?

Doesn't do it for me like The Star Spangled Banner but Irving Berlin's tune is certainly much more singable...especially after a few too many beers...

I don't have an opinion one way or the other really...well, actually, I think all of those patriotic songs irritate me just a little; probably from hearing them a million times in the military. It got old.
Two exceptions which I love...Boston's and Iced Earth's covers of the "Star Spangled Banner."
