Been taking in ~15g of inulin a day (Miracle Fiber) and the farts are ridiculous. Not a big deal to me, because I enjoy a good fart, but I'm trying to think of the welfare of others around me. Anything I can do to cut down on the gas? Bean-O?

Simethicone when you consume the inulin. You're probably taking in too much. Not everyone has the same gut flora or gastrointestinal motility. In studies, the awesome benefits of fiber mostly only apply to women, and have no effect on men. Sucks eh? But fear not, the male gastrointestinal system tends to be more robust and incurs problems at a lower rate. So I'd ask yourself why you feel you should be taking that much in the first place.

I thought that could be a relatively 'positive' sign....isn't like that for the first few days on GutHealth? All that new probiotic greatness kicking in?

Intense farting and terrible abdominal discomfort are the 2 reasons why I try to avoid inulin at all costs. Its a shame that it seems to be the fiber of choice in all of the hot new "probiotic" cheeses and foods. I think it was one of the main constituents in Dreamfields pastas, which led me to nothing but marathon bathroom sessions and hot lava.

Hmmn, that's interesting if it's true. I've just been going with the label recommendations - 5g of inulin 2-3xED. Are you sure simethicone would work? I thought it was more for burping than it was for farting.

I remember being on a PSMF where I hadn't gotten the level of fibrous veggies correct and wisely decided to take ~>15g of Inulin in a single dose(to kickstart the *ahem* I think you get the idea...), before sitting and drinking a litre of Diet Coke at the cinema...

I had to run out every 15mins to fart. PMSL.

These days I just have around 500g of Green Beans (~20g fibre) each day.

Farts are minimal
