Progesterone defiency can result in serotonin deficiency?
Would use of anti estrogens lower progesterone and lower serotonin resulting in depression?
I remember reading some guys review, and said it ruined his mood, libido, and he had slight depression after a few weeks on an AI because of low serotonin.
Has anyone experienced this?
So would having low estrogen and high progesterone be ideal?

If your estrogen levels get too low you will feel like shit, and have low libido and depression......but i dont think it has anything to do with serotonin....becuase in fact depression has little to do with serotonin or one single monoamine......it may have something to do with desensitization of the DA receptors......estrogen sensatizes them.....but i cant be sure.....

having low estrogen and high progesterone is not "ideal"

If your use an AI moderately you wont have this problem.....and especially stay away from letro....itll plummet estrogen to unhealthy levels

the ideal levels of hormones are a balance between them all......your looking for homeostasis....its what you body wants and what your mind wants.... or as frangible would say "balance grasshopper"

ok.
Do AI's (like androstenetrione, formestane,) have any effect on progesterone levels? If do they lower progest levels then i can understand how they may cause symptoms like depression, libido etc. Im not saying that is true...anyone know??
I dont think those are powerful enough to lower estrogen dangerously low anyway
markog
to a degree, yes........I wouldnt worry about it though.

i would imagine having super high progesterone levels would cause depression too......either way I wouldnt place too much emphasis on it

markog
OTC AI's generally arent powerful enough to plummet hormone levels in reccomended dosages

so unless your trippling a novadex xt dose no need to worry

If it is of interest to any of you, my neurochem text has a figure of a brain showing where the estradiol receptors are. I'm not gonna bother scanning it, but there are plenty of them condensed in the hypothalamus, pituitary, midbrain, and preoptic area (which explains the hot flashes from low E2). Virtually none are in the cerebellum, frontal, and parietal lobe.
